Font Aid V

While we have been working on some other cool projects, we interrupted our normal stream to participate in Font Aid V: Made for Japan / A typeface to benefit tsunami and earthquake relief in Japan.

Font Aid is a great fundraiser, now in it's fifth installment. It was started by  Claes Källarsson for UNICEF and thus inspired Stuart Sandler to start the fundraiser for the September 11 tragedies with the Society of Typographic Aficionados (SoTA). Later Font Aid III and IV were created for the 2005 earthquake and tsunamis and the 2010 Haitian earthquakes. You can read a more detailed "brief history" here.

While we are still working on our submission and it will be a while before the collection will be for sale, it occurred to me that other designers/artists we know might want to get involved by submitting their own glyphs by Friday, March 25.

We'll follow up when the collection is available for sale.

Spring is Here (Finally)

Today is the first day of spring—hooray!

We wanted to celebrate by looking back at a project we were working on a year ago.
Last year the Master Gardener Program at the University of Connecticut held a competition
to design their new logo. While we like the logo they chose (one of ours), we had also submitted
a few others that we were quite fond of.

Here's a look back at some of these unsung heroes.

Happy Early Valentine's Day

Happy (Early) Valentine's Day from July Twenty Fourth!

We designed the Valentine above, but got it printed a little late, so we didn't get it up for sale
in time for the holiday, but we can use it as our online greeting this year.

Visit us in early 2012 to get your giraffe valentines (flat, 3.5 x 4.875 inches, with a matching envelope)
for your special Valentine next year!

What's been keeping us busy?

July Twenty Fourth has been quite busy since the last time we wrote.

First of all, we changed blogs. Bethany can't even remember her wordpress login, so it wasn't working that well for her.
Be sure to come back here (julytwentyfourthnews.blogspot.com) for the latest updates.

We are on Facebook! Please "like" us!

Here is a list of other projects we have been working on:
  • Our identity. Bethany screenprinted our business cards and notecards before she shut down her studio in March.
  • Wedding Packages. We designed an invite, reply card and directions for a wedding in San Francisco. What fun we had making a wedding invitation that was so site specific! The couple was lovely and enthusiastic and rumor has it they had a great day!
  • Logos, logos, and more logos. Projects have included logos for hospitals and garden clubs. Once our designs are chosen, we hope to post them here. Wish us luck!
  • Onesies. Bethany wanted to use up the onesies she had in her studio and both Melanie and Bethany know a lot of people having babies so we designed onesies. Bethany printed them during her last weeks in the studio. See them below and purchase them at our Etsy Shop.
